Your privacy is critically important to us. At UIS we have a few fundamental principles:

●      We don’t ask you for personal information unless we need it to provide Services.

●      We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.

●      We don’t store personal information on our servers beyond what is required for the ongoing operation of our Services.

Our Privacy Policy incorporates these key principles.

Urban Interactive Studio, LLC (“UIS”) operates several Services including, but not limited to, EngagingPlans, EngagingApps, and CiviComment (formerly “OpenComment”). It is UIS’ policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while providing our Services.

1. Website Visitors

Like most website operators, UIS collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. UIS collects this information to better understand how visitors use our tools.

UIS also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments. UIS only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that commenter IP addresses and email addresses are visible and disclosed to the managers of the site where the comment was left.

2. Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

UIS Clients may choose to collect personally-identifying information via UIS Services, for example to analyze participant demographics. The amount and type of information that UIS gathers on their behalf depends on the nature of the interaction. In each case, UIS collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction. UIS does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from participating in certain engagement activities.

Aggregated Statistics

UIS may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites, typically via a third party provider such as Google Analytics. UIS may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, UIS does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

UIS discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and clients that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on UIS’s behalf or analyze it to gain insights for their engagement projects, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. UIS will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. UIS may disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information in response to subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when UIS believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of UIS, our third party vendors or the public at large.

If you are a client of UIS and have supplied your email address, UIS may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, request your feedback, or provide updates related to UIS and our Services. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish as part of tutorials and FAQs it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. UIS takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. UIS uses cookies to help identify and track visitors, their usage of UIS products, and their website access preferences. Users who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before entering a UIS website, with the drawback that certain features of UIS’s sites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

3. Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, UIS reserves the right to update its Privacy Policy occasionally and at our sole discretion. UIS encourages visitors to frequently check this page for changes to thePolicy, as your continued use of this site will constitute your acceptance of any such change.
